Montreal will open three more overnight warming centres this week, adding 180 beds ahead of the first forecast cold snap of the season.
The centres open whenever Environment Canada forecasts a temperature or wind chill below -15°C, and stay open until 9 a.m. Shuttles will run from four metro stations on the coldest nights.
Community groups say last winter's sites were often full by midnight. The city says it will post live bed counts online for outreach workers.
